What is Mass Balance?
Nalgene Outdoor uses Tritan Renew material derived from 50% recycled plastic using International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) certified mass balance. This is an accepted and certified protocol that documents and tracks recycled content through complex manufacturing systems. It’s used when sustainable inputs like recycled plastic are mixed with traditional inputs like fossil-fuel-based feedstock. To learn more about Mass Balance, click here. You can find additional information on the ISCC site here.
How do I clean my Nalgene bottle?
All Nalgene bottles are dishwasher safe. We recommend placing both the bottle and cap on the top rack and keeping them away from any heating element.
For larger bottles that don’t fit on the top rack: pop the cap on the top rack and the bottle on the bottom.
Prefer to hand wash? Fill your bottle about two-thirds full with very warm water and a few drops of bleach. Screw the cap on, give it a good shake, and let it sit for about an hour. Use a bottle brush to scrub the inside and the cap if needed, then rinse thoroughly.
Can I freeze my Nalgene bottle?
Yes, you can. However, only fill your bottle about 2/3 full to allow for expansion (and prevent cracking).
What is your warranty policy?
Nalgene bottles and containers have a durable design made to combat waste and withstand a lifetime’s worth of adventure. If the unthinkable happens, don't stress, we have a 10 year warranty that covers functional damage to the bottle or containers such as cracks, breaks or broken components from regular, intended use. The warranty is limited to functional damage to bottles or containers and does not cover loss or stolen items. It also does not cover cosmetic damage including scratches, nicks, or worn prints. If you feel the damage to your bottle warrants a replacement, please submit a message via our Contact Form, selecting "Australian Warranty" in the dropdown. Please note that all claims are subject to review and we reserve the right to reject claims that do not fall within guidelines of the warranty.
Is my Nalgene bottle recyclable?
Nalgene bottles are made from #7 plastic (Eastman Tritan™), which is durable and built to last - but when the time does come to part ways, recycling can be a little tricky.
Some councils do accept #7 plastics, but not all. We recommend checking with your local council before popping it in the kerbside bin. If it’s not accepted, they may be able to direct you to a recycling facility that does take them.
Of course, the best thing about Nalgene bottles is how long they last - reuse is the name of the game.
What is Tritan plastic?
We use Tritan for the majority of our bottles. You can find more information about Tritan here.
What is your return policy?
If you’re not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can return it for a full refund within 30 days, providing it is unused and in its original packaging. For products purchased directly from an authorised Nalgene dealer, their return policy applies - please contact them directly. If your product is defective or you have received the wrong item, please contact us via our Contact Form.
Are you bottles BPA Free?
Yes, all of our bottles are free of BPA, BPS, BPF and phthalates. You can find more information here.
How should I store my Nalgene bottle?
Prolonging the life of your Nalgene bottle starts with proper storage. Once you’ve cleaned your bottle — whether by hand or in the top rack of your dishwasher — let it air-dry fully. Completely remove the cap while drying to enhance air circulation and prevent bacterial growth and odours. Once dry, store your bottle with the cap off in a cool, dry place, ensuring it’s ready for your next outing.
How can I prevent the print on my Nalgene bottle from wearing off?
To keep the print on your Nalgene bottle vibrant, it’s important to avoid contact with certain chemicals — such as those found in sunscreens — that can cause the print to fade. Always wash your hands after applying sunscreen and before handling your bottle. Be sure to keep your bottle away from abrasive materials like sand, as they can scratch and wear away the print.
Can I get custom-printed Nalgene bottles?
Absolutely. Whether you're a brand, business, club, or event crew — we offer custom printing on a range of Nalgene bottles. It's a great way to create something useful and memorable. Check out the custom printing page for all the details and to get in touch.
I’ve lost or broken the cap. Do I need to buy a whole new bottle?
No - you don’t need to throw away the whole bottle! We sell replacement caps so you can keep your bottle going strong. Whether it’s a wide mouth, narrow mouth, or something in between, you can grab a new cap without replacing the whole thing.
